Africa investor is launching the first "Tourism investor Awards"to profile and celebrate investments in the fastest growing tourism market in the world - Africa.
The awards will take place in May 2007 and will be held alongside "Indaba" the tourism exhibition in Durban, South Africa. The awards will be presented in several categories designed to showcase excellence; including, the best tourism brand or tourism promotion strategy, the top tourism investor, the most promising SME development, and the best facilitator of tourism investment.
Geoffrey Lipman, Assistant Secretary General of the UNWTO and Chairman of the Tourism investor Awards judging panel says, "these awards are the only initiative designed to recognise the achievement of those businesses, governments, organisations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the growth of sustainable tourism investment in Africa. The leading role that business plays generating economic growth to foster sustainable development must be acknowledged."
In May 2006, Africa investor magazine launched "Tourism investor" , a 15-page supplement on tourism investment and business travel . Since its launch, Tourism investor has published comprehensive country reports on investment in South Africa around 2010, Morocco, Ethiopia, Kenya, numerous interviews, and news analyses on key issues such as the impact of Travel Advisories on the tourism industry and the implications of EU fuel tax on the African aviation industry.
